PBOs FEDERATION URGES POLITICAL PARTIES TO STOP POLITICAL INTOLERANCE IN KENYA

The National Federation of PBOs (PBOS Federation) has urged political actors bracing for Kenya’s 5th transition elections to be held on August 9 to steer clear of political intolerance to avoid plunging the country into necessary chaos.
The National Federation of PBOs cited the recent attack on Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga, earlier attacks on deputy president William Ruto convoy, and the then ODM aspirant Jimmy Wanjigi as a worrying trend that may fan flames of post election violence if allowed to continue untamed!
The National Federation of PBOs Chairman Stephen K. Cheboi observed that the alarming trend was likely to result into “zoning or ethnic profiling” which are dangerous attributes for the fragile Kenya society that is yet to be fully cohesive.
“We strongly condemn political intolerance among key political leaders, aspirants of various political offices and their supporters as high political seasons takes root ahead of the August 9 poll”.
Cheboi urged “political leaders to keep prioritizing issues affecting the citizens as they visit every corner of the country to sell their policies peacefully.
“The National Federation of PBOs urges all Kenyans to pay keen attention to every aspirant, the political parties and allow them to share their manifesto peacefully with others in a give or take spirit.”
“The National Federation of PBO surges current and aspiring political leaders to always maintain high level of political decorum, tolerance and harmony”, he said.
“The National Federation of PBO surge leaders to desist from name calling and issuing of hateful remarks or unbecoming behaviours during public meetings.”

He said the National Federation of PBOs would encourage wananchi to reject leaders who propagate hatred in the society or
use public meetings to incite wananchi and sow seeds of discord among peace loving citizens.”
Cheboi said through the recently launched National Federation of PBOs peace initiative “Mwananchi Peace Initiative” The National Federation of PBOs would preach peace and urge voters to reject all forms of politically instigated violence before or after the general elections.
“The National Federation of PBOs reiterates that Kenyans must elect leaders of integrity committed to service delivery and with zero tolerance for all forms of violence,” he stressed.
He advised political parties to conduct Free and fair party primaries scheduled from mid April contact: 0721843924/0733298969/0722450798
